In an earlier post I showed pics of the quilting on my fractured nine patch quilt. Now I would like to share with you how I pieced the quilt.
From assorted 5" squares, piece together a nine patch block. Slash the block 8" from the left side, and 8" from the bottom.
Cut 1 1/2" strips of your background fabric as sashing. Add a strip to the top and middle of the left hand side of the block, and a piece to the middle and bottom of the right hand side of the block.
Add a sashing piece to the centre, and your block is complete. I made 12 blocks and then set them using 1 1/2" sashing between blocks. You may add sashing however you like.
A quick and easy pattern suitable for charm packs or layer cakes. Works great with scraps as well!
